Product Review: Cantu Shea Butter Super Shine Hair Silk

PRODUCT:
Cantu Super Shine Hair Silk
Price: 6.99 (7.50 with tax or something like that)
Supposed to: help prevent breakage, repair split ends, reduce frizz, be lightweight, and leave my hair silky smooth

This serum is okay, but it's nothing that special. It doesn't seem to last on my hair that much, and for some reason, my hair just doesn't love it at all. The shine lasts for a couple of hours or so, but the levels of health that I'm used to seeing from my other products just make it seem lackluster in comparison.
Anyways, I don't think that I'll buy this again. It definitely didn't wow me, and even though it did rid my hair of the frizz, it just didn't give me the overall feel that I was looking for. It didn't really change my levels of breakage drastically, but that could be something that was my fault. I'm not really sure. It also isn't as light weight as other serums, and as a result, it leaves this layer on top of the hair that isn't absorbed. Whereas, other serums have instantly made my hair crazy soft and manageable by themselves.
I don't know about any products that have ever completely repaired split ends, but to be fair, I did have a short lived shine.
Overall, I would give this product a rating of five out of ten. It's not at all the worst serum that I've ever used, but it's not the best either. I don't plan on buying it again. I think I've learned my lesson with Cantu products period. Maybe they just don't work for my hair.

  1. What type of hair do you have? I have thin, fine, naturally straight hair and although I have never tried this product, or any Cantu product, for that matter, a friend of mine SWEARS by this stuff but Due to the fact that my hair is so fine, I have a feeling that this stuff will probably just make me look.

  2. My hair is picky, thick, and crazy, so what works for her may not work for her! Your hair being fine probably needs something lightweight that won't weight it down. Look into some lightweight products or minimalize the use. The way you use a product affects the end result of your hair!
